Although my can control is not totally up to scratch yet my skills at making stencils and using a scalpel are really coming along.....

I made an attempt at making a Reuben piece the other day and this was the final product. All the stencils were made from the Very Fast Very Dangerous album art work. The 'Reuben' stencil is a 2-layer stencil albeit with quite a few little messed up bits. The Jon stencil is also a 2-layer, the Jamie one is a 3-Layer with odd tone differences in the paint and the Guy one is a 4-Layer with loads of little tiny mess-up's in it.

All of the paint used was 'Belton Premium'.

Hope you guys and girls approve.....

Thanks for the kind comments guys. I cant wait to see the 'Third Album' artwork and see what I can make out of it. I just hope that its an improvement on the DVD cover artwork...... Confused

But dont get me wrong, there might be something really cool inside, its just that the cover seem's a bit lacking in creativity (IMO).

EDIT: To make post less likely to stir up trouble.

I think Reuben should get a new font for the new dvd/next album. And the photo on the front of the dvd although not imaginative is a standard band photo that most bands put on the front of their dvd's.

no it's not, it's a "standard" band photo with cartoon helmets..

it's quite harsh suggesting it's not "imaginative". how would you have made it more so?

it's hard to photograph a band interestingly without props (unless obviously it's a live photo) So many bands are photographed in alleys and the like.

I would've probably put a picture of either the band in action live. Or at some point on the road, like on the bus or something.

There's always the option of putting some other artwork on the front that isn't a photo of the band. Say a photo of aldershot, or better still a photo of a motorway heading for aldershot.

Kinda like this:

But better composition and with aldershot in the shot or something!

Edit: put in correct thumbnails.

I would just like to clarify that me saying ' the cover seem's a bit lacking in creativity (IMO).' is in no way meant to be taken as me bashing the DVD cover design, having at look at it now I spose I could have worded it better.

Basically I can take fuck all stencil wise from the cover that any fan could glance at and think 'Oh, Reuben'. Meaning that it has no design that stands out as a 'Reuben signature' (See Oxidizing symbol, Los Skeletos skeletons and VFVD truck).

Once again to make myself clear, I think the cover is great, nice and quirky its just that I cant really take it away and make Reuben artwork with it at my current abilities when it comes to art.

There.................I feel better now Smile
