I dont particularly want to post this but its a fair point.

Jon said that he didnt see a problem with downloading and its a good way to check out bands, so why is it being banned on his bands forum?
Probably every single person on this forum is going to buy one or more copies of the album anyway.

I do agree. Im definately not wanting to cause a problem but i think downloading is great. Like the man before me said, people will still buy the stuff! Ive bought everything reuben have released since SOTP on every format available and i wil definately be doing the same with the album! Plus having searched reuben in kazaa etc has given me access to reuben songs id NEVER be able to get otherwise (acoustic SFS and words from reuben?? enlighten me if you can!)
Also the number or artists ive found on the net that i would NEVER EVER find anywhere else is astonishing! its the best when you find some random obscure black metal group from some nether region!!!
Anyway like i say i can understand the concern on D/ling but i think everyone is gonna want the real reubeny deal in both hands at the end of the day!!

If I hadn't downloaded Reuben from AudioGalaxy, I wouldn't have bought every fucking single and Pilot by now.

the official line from the band (that i've been told) has generally been "if you can buy it, please don't download it" or something similar to that.

as far as the forum is concerned, it is banned because it is illegal!

someone owns the copyright to every song whether it's a proper release, demo or radio session.

i part own the copyright to Pilot and LSHO and wouldn't be impressed if people posted where to download them from.

i am well aware that people get in to bands by hearing mp3s. there are plenty of downloadable tracks on the site:

mp3 clips of all the singles except freddy K, shambles and also, if you get the videos then you have full versions of wooden boy, SOTP, Stux and LSHO as well as live versions of Banner Held High and No one wins the war

surely that's enough to get to know whether you like the band?

i also appreciate that lots of people download stuff and then go our and buy it anyway. that's fine, but because it's not particularly legal, you can't talk about it here. sorry.

i hope this has made it clearer

4 of the demoes are up for download on the peoplesound website. I don't see how swapping session tracks and demoes will hurt their sales in any way. If it's an argument about "who owns what" then that's really pathetic.

obviously the peoplesound demos are legitimate downloads.

it won't necessarily hurt sales, i didn't say it would in my last post

It's not an argument about "who owns what" it's the facts of who owns what - if I made a topic called "Download the album here" and told everyone where to get mp3s I would expect Xtra Mile/Sony to take me to court. Likewise with session tracks, the BBC and XFM/Capital's lawyers would be unhappy.

For the millionth time, whether you like it or not, it is illegal and therefore you can't talk about how to do it on this forum.

I'm sorry for being short with you but I'm getting fed up of explaining this again and again. If you had taken the time to read the rest of the thread you would know all this already.

Im afraid thats how the music industry works. If someones paying for your services then they can pretty much have control over the end result?

I'll be the first to admit im no angel and i've downloaded Reuben and other bands songs but i always make a point of buying them if i like them and if its possible. Ric has spoken and the rule is no requesting, posting links to reuben mp3s. Any posts found will deleted.

I think it's all been pretty lenient as it is with downloads, some bands are VERY against sharing music. It's simply requested that downloading demos are not to be linked to or discussed here. I would appreciate what I can get already from the site and Peoplesound and whatnot.

Thats all fair and everything, i wouldnt like people getting my music for free.

Put it this way, bands make music for a living and when people just download the songs then the bands cant make a living out of it. Just like you guys getting jobs and going to work but not getting paid for working.

im just rambling on now..

quick question......will the 'moving to blackwater' video be put up on the website at all? or is it a case of legal issues?

im just asking cause i havent seen it yet! Sad
