what's really obvious?

i think he's referring to the fact that the title of the song is different to the lyrics, but we all know tht thats how its sposed to be

[edit by ric: i've split the "tonight my wife is your wife" messages from the "cover mistake" thread]

I think (this is my opinion, I know nothing) that it was originaly called Tonight My Life Is Your Life, as the lyric goes, but they since everyone started replacing Life with Wife it kinda stuck.

well... i'm sure you won't be surprised, but that's not quite right.

the song has ALWAYS been called "Tonight My Wife Is Your Wife".

in fact, "Eating Only Apples" was originally called "Tonight My Wife Is Your Wife" - the CDRs from Abbey Road are labelled:

1. Scared of the Police
2. Tonight My Wife Is Your Wife
3. Wooden Boy

Someone said that a title like that needed an even better song.. so it was renamed to Eating Only Apples and the Tonight My Wife Is Your Wife that you all know was born. It has never EVER been called ...Life - that was a mistake by X-FM.

that's about as much detail as i can give. and i'm 99.9% sure that it's all correct Smile

I stand corrected!

Ah well, I never had any factual basis on my theory, just something I came up with randomly.

Didn't Jamie say sometime/somewhere that Eating Only Apples related to the song because the infatuation with Swedish chick meant his appetite changed and he was only eating apples...

...or do I talk shite?

Do you mean they played Screamin' Weenies? Or was it just mentioned that it was taken? And does anybody have the interview on file or on MP3?
