Gig tees (if you're seeing a relatively small band like, say, flogging molly) are actualy only around 10, which is nearly half price what they are in shops.

I reckon bands could make more if they increased their merch prices.

I think they should. The average elated fan won't give two shits how much a tshirt is after they've been blown away by a fantastic set.

Of course the cost depends on the fame of the band. I've seen gig tees at 5 and 25

Well, merch is the biggest way any band is going to make profit. They get very little from tickets and their CDs, that all goes towards the labels and that lot.

But put it this way, depending on the size of the amount of t-shirts/jackets you get done and the amount of colours in the design used, overall you could be having a bunch of shirts that would cost about 2 or so each, maybe less if it's a large amount.

If the band sells the t-shirts for like 10, which is fairly cheap nowadays, then they'd be making 8 from each shirt they sell. With that profit, they can get a little bit of money to cope with and make a living from, or use it towards funds for a new release/tour/merchandise.

I got to HMV, I hate the idea of not having an album physically in your hand, it just takes away th magic.

I sometimes get to the odd independent record shop, but admittedly it's mostly HMV.

Look at the last Reuben tour, they made 910 on tshirts from the first date in Birmingham alone!
