I checked with the organisers. We're officially allowed the sofa Smile

Although as he pointed out, it does look set to rain that weekend...

We should all try and bring a sun umbrella each and some kind of tarpaulin thing to make a weather proof dry area Smile

Steph I posted the tickets today. I meant to last week but went back to my parents house for the week and found I'd taken home an envelope with a curry menu instead of your tickets - dumbass!

Aidan sorting the finances then and there is alllllll good. I forgot you owed me dollar for oceansize, cheers for remembering!

I'm gonna head off to tescos and stock up on tesco value camping things that may be useful. they do horrible sleeping bags for 3.99 I think, buy a few of them and you have a comfy mattress Very Happy

In case I forgot to say before, please save me space for 2 tents! I'll get getting there on the Friday.

Oh, and as for how to have a sofa and not worry about the rain, this is how it was done and should be done again:
sofa + sun umbrella + ground sheet tarpaulin =

Rich - how did you get the sofa there before? My car is an estate, so I was planning on whacking it in the back, but my car's been acting up and may well still be out of action on thursday. I've found a 2 seat and a 3 seat sofa both available, for free, from a place in Guildford from this Wednesday, it'd just be a case of getting one of them down there!

Well last time I carried it across reading with a friend. my arms have never hurt so much!

I'm not sure if i can take a sofa in my car but should be able to bring a nice leather foot rest, which also acts as a seat for 4 people if you dont mind sitting on corners. What's up with your car? If you can let me know dimensions of the 2 seater I may be able to get that in my car...

I shall say it again... it's immensely important that we have sun umbrellas! And a mallet.

i have one old parasol umbrella thing. but a case of fitting it in my corsa with with me, 2 other people, 2 tents, 3 sleeping bags, 3 roll mats, crates of beer and cider, food, a flag (which i havent made yet) chairs etc etc etc. basically its gonna be a horrible squeeze.

Aidan, if your car is workable for sofa driving i can take all your stuff in my car.

Anyone else lacking a winsy bit of confidence in the British weather? Confused Tippo seemed to say it best when he said 2000trees is getting the rain Glasto should've gotten

Ah, it wouldn't be a festival without unbelievable amounts of rain and discomfort...

Hey Rich - the guy giving the sofa away lives at 50 Portsmouth Road, which is like 2 minutes walk from yours!

I'm having second thoughts about it though, as with the weather and everything it just seems like it's going to be immense hassle...

yeah, fair comment. Does anyone have a gazebo? I'm just thinking it would be nice to have somewhere outside, that it's not raining on. If not then the sun umbrella/groundsheet method will suffice.

I am having issues getting hold of both a sun umbrella and a groundsheet right now.

Steal one from a pub beer garden when it's closed.
