As per title. I'd be prepared to swap my Stux (in good condition) single plus some cash for a Scared of the police single in similar condition.

I've got a Racecar is racecar backwards LP that is one of the first pressings (signed by the band in silver ink) that I may be persuaded to swap too...

your probably not going to tempt anyone with the LP as all of them where signed. You'll maybe get somewhere with a copy of Pilot with shambles on or offers around 100 for SOTP.

I know there's probably some legal/publishing issues, but it would be nice if the old sotp/stux/lsho singles could be made available from the Hideous site. Maybe a couple of quid each via paypal for good quality mp3s and downloadable artwork.
Those are great songs and so many new fans will be missing out on them, or living with duff mp3s they got from some p2p network or other.

Yup. Some of the old single tracks are among my favourite Reuben songs. I envy those who can afford to spend around 100 on a three-track single, even if it is rare and out-of-print.

i don't think it's a good idea to release the early singles as downloads.. people who own the singles on the original format would be pissed off i think since they are really fucking rare to get and may have spent a lot of money if bought off ebay

i know i would be. i earnt my copies Very Happy

I don't think that people should be excluded from getting to hear those songs just because ebay has gone and built a glass wall between fans and the cds.
If I didn't already own them I know that I almost certainly couldn't afford to go giving some greedy ebay geek all that much for just 9 songs. That's with a full time job and them being one of my favourite bands, so for 14/15yr olds getting buy on their pocket money or what they make selling tack to tweenagers it's gonna be impossible.

It's like Jonah Matranga is doing with some of the old Far and Onelinedrawing recordings. He's bringing them back into the affordability range of the fans, while at the same time it means that the money instead of going into someones pocket is now going back to the artist. So neither artist or fan is being ripped off by online auction mercenaries anymore.

And I don't think that having official digital copies would lessen the experience of owning the CDs for those who have bought them. You still get to experience the sense and aura of the physical piece...
If you owned a painting that was popular, and there were posters of it being sold all over the place that wouldn't cheapen the reality of the painting even though both painting and photo are essentially the exact same image.

Unless of course you only bought the CD so you could wave your big ebay wanger in peoples faces like 'nyah nyah nyah look how rich i am i best the fan because ive paid the most nyah nyah nyah'.
In which case you really didn't buy it for the right reason at all.

As much as I hate the digital music, I would be perfectly happy with a digital release of the singles if it meant I could actually own proper, legal versions of the tracks.

What's this bullshit about 'earning' your copy?

I bought it the week it came out for 1.99 (pre-ordered actually when I worked in HMV) and some cunt nicked it at a party recently.

Take yer head out of your ass and wind yer fucking neck in.

If you've spent a ridiculous amount of money on a CD single from eBay and were subsequently pissed off that it was later released as a download for others to enjoy then you're nothing but an acquisitive, self-serving fuckwit who deserves a kick in the bangle.
