Will Reuben ever come back to the Agincourt in Camberley?

It seems like they've ignored their hometown on their upcoming headline tour, i mean lostprophets always go back to Pontypridd, so why can't they come back to Camberley?

They do hometown gigs at the Westy in Aldershot. It could be said that they don't play the Agincourt because of a certain rivalry between the Westy and the Agincourt, or because the Agincourt has, at least in the past, had a bit of a reputation for not being all that great. I and quite a lot of people I know have played there and have had mixed experiences, most of them alright, but I do know a lot of people really dislike it.

But yeah, in general as Barney is Reuben's manager and books the gigs at the Westy, it's a more obvious choice.

I once saw Jamie filling in on lead vocals for a band at the Agincourt. Was really odd seeing him without a guitar.

i'm not sure reuben have ever played at the agincourt. they did as angel though.

aldershot is more the band's collective "home" anyway, it was only jamie who lived in camberley.

NOW i see why there's this big save the Westy thing going on.

I've never been to either but it sounds like the Ag isn't too good. Doesn't help that there's a McShit next door to it.

basically whenever they do put on gigs there are more bands and crew than people paying to be there. and from experience, most people at those gigs are quite young, so they cant be making much on the drinks front either. the whole place has kinda gone down the pan.

It's genuinely one of the most horrible venues to perform at, and to see a band perform at. Has anyone ever experienced remotely good sound there?

To be quite honest it's run by someone I consider to be thieving, scamming, lazy, and stupid. I've heard so many horror stories from that place and been involved in a couple myself

When Oceansize played the sound was better than I've previously heard it. And I once saw FallBack play there (local band, friends of mine) and the drums sounded AWESOME. But that was a particularly good soundguy called Phil. In general, the place is an echo chamber and unless you're very experienced is impossible to get good sound in. The guy who runs gigs (who, in light of what people are saying here, I won't name) has a pretty bad reputation. I've known him within a band/promoter relationship and he's been alrlight, but I know people who've known him as a band/manager relationship and say he's not worth bothering with. I don't feel I know the situation well enough to judge.

Aidan you saw oceansize there?
Did you by chance catch the first support band that night? Goes by the name of Pilot:X?

anyway I've played the Ag a few times now with my band, and i can truly say that experiences have ranged from fairly good to not so great.
but this "no more gigs" thing confuses me, does this mean the South East Battle of the Bands thing isn't going on no more?

who knows eh?
