Actually, a better idea than a straight B-sides/rarities album.

Have one disc with all the original shady sound quality, possibly shady song quality songs from days of yore (including Angel stoof mebbe?), THEN have a disc with shinier, spanglier newer versions of them.

Could make for some interesting debates (such as new vs. old Glitterskin), and we could get stuff like the mystical extended Shambles and the newer version of SOTP that appeared on the MySpace a while back.

Innit?

newer version of SOTP??? anyone steal it from myspace? Laughing

To be honest, a lot of the older stuff quite simply isn't as good as the newer stuff... I'd much rather new material than old.

newer stuff sounds a lot more creamy if i may say so

Yeah

But going back to the (old) subject, people might not want a bside album now that shambles is upon 2by3.

Well, i do, only for an amazing compilation to put into my cd player ;D

If it happened it would be some haggard cobbles together compilation rather than a re-recorded version.

I disagree, when this happens it's usually due to it being done by the record company to make a quick buck. If it was done I reckon it'd be done by the band...or by ric...if the mood ever took him. Razz I reckon if they put one together they'd know EXACTLY what the fans want.

Ya dig?

Yes obviously if they did it. But they [Jamie] doesn't have enough time to commit to the band. If they did have enough time they wouldn't have disbanded in the first place and would still be working on a new album anyway. As it is they don't and even working on old songs would take time to get together and work out, especially to a standard where they would feel comfortable recording them. This is why I don't see it as being feasible as a re-recorded album.

is a compilation does happen in the future, i would say it's very unlikely to feature new recordings of old songs.

if we're very lucky it might have new/unrecorded so far stuff.. like the last time etc

oh and as much as i'd like to say that i'm going to sort a compilation out, i don't have the time, money (definitely don't have that) or the inclination to do it - the record industry is horrible.
