I find this is generally met with a chorus of groans, but I have a Marshall AVT150 which I love to bits. It sounds gorgeous. Marshalls DO make good amps. They also make some utter toss.

Thats a pretty good amp one of my friends has it the 120 watt one.

Iv'e found the people that moan about amps are the people who are rich and have the money to buy a mesa boogie half stack. Or the people who live of rack mounted stuff.

Are you the guy that was just starting to learn guitar? Cus if you get the amp I have the Marshall MG50 which is going for 150ish now I think. Which is a decent enough amp for the price. Some people don't like the amp on ultimate-guitar an stuff but thats just them doing their usual "Iv'e got to pretend I know stuff cus this guy on the forum said it sucks" jumping on the bandwaggon.

i think i've totally missed the boat on this thread haven't i!! lol

only just joined the forum.

amp wise everybody seems to overlook kustom amps. they seem to have a reputation as being cheap but they're really good.
they do budget amps right up to ones that are priced at nearly 1000.

i've been using a kustom quad 100 dfx for a few years now. first had the 2x12 combo which sounded awesome for an amp of 250 & was that impressed i got the half stack.

HEY KUSTOM GET THE HINT!!! ENDORSE ME & GIVE ME FREE GEAR!!!! HAHAHAHA!!!!

as for distortions i got an mxr doubleshot distortion & it's the fucking daddy!!!

i second what the guy above says about Kustom amps. But i chose marshall

Basically i was in the same boat a flagship had played guitar for a bit and needed a better amp.

I surfed the net for hours. Learning about amps, valve, solid state, valve solid state hybridgs.

I settled with the fact that if i got a valve amp, i could only get a small one for the price. So i decided i was gonna go for a solid state or half valve one. I know the whole half valve thing is a gimic (as the warm sound of valve amps come from mostly the power amp not pre-amp) but in the end i got a Marshall AVT100.

It was so close i tryed out all these different amps and settled it down to the AVT series or a Kustom Quad FX. The main attraction with the quad FX was that the Kustom had 2x12 inch speakers and the marshall only had 1. They were both similar prices but i decided to buy the marshall. The clean channel on the Kustom just sounded digital and cheap compared with the Marshall. And the OD channels on both were pretty much the same. Although the Kustom was probably louder i preferred the Marhsall.

lol!! the clean channel is the only channel i use. i think it sounds pretty good. but to be honest i very rarely use it straight. normally have a bit of crunch all the time. i just use my pedals.

i was looking at the marshall avt's when i got my kustom but i prefer the sound of 2 speakers at least. better spread of the sound

at the end of the day it's what suits you though isn't it. if we all liked milk chocolate then they wouldn't make bourneville!! lol!

fender jaguar, fender telecaster that i customed. i took out the neck pick up and rewired the pick up the selector to run like a killswitch.

amp wise i use a wee marshall valve combo and occasionally a fender delux amp.

pedals - boss dd6 delay, big muff and old old jim dunlop wah that i bought in florida and dont use anymore.

an Epi SG, a sort "cream" one with 3 humbuckers. I'm looking into buying a ESP LTD MH250 or an ibanez of similar price and build.
