At some point Jon used a Gallien Krueger Diesel Dawg distortion... I think this was around the Freddy Krueger era.

I had it for about a year, probably the best sound of all the distortion/overdrive pedals I've owned so far. It sounds meaty, especially with a Gallien Krueger head. Well worth the money, and it looks fuckin badass!!

The Diesel Dawg looks swish. How much is it normally?

I'm at a loss at decent bass FX, I have a Zoom B2 multi-FX but it's rank, and I can never get the distortion to sound louder than the normal tone!

Pretty much the only place you can buy it in this country is here for 135, you can probably get it cheaper from other online shops but not many will post Gallien Krueger stuff abroad because of customs charges. beyerdynamic.co.uk also sell it for 135. I got my diesel dawg from that first link. They don't come up too often on ebay.

Harmony central reviews here

edit

Right now the pedals I use is are a digitech bass driver, with a digitech bass synth wah (same one that chris wolstenholme from muse uses). Together they are cheaper than the diesel dawg and you get a way bigger range of tones due to the synth part. The synth has 7 different modes, one of them is an octaver, it sounds fucking wicked coupled with the really knarly distortion, and you definitely get the volume boost you need, with loads to spare. The cool thing about the distortion is the 'blend' nob which blends the distorted tone with the original clean tone, makes it very versatile and you never lose any bottom end.

cheapest place and very fast delivery:
bass driver
synth wah

Jamie just uses the overdrive on his Laney(shows you on the dvd) with the bottlecap hah.
I found a pretty good sound for the guitar for playing Reuben, With a Les Paul(my other guitars an old jackson they don't make anymore) Through a Marshall Mg50dfx (I know a few people hate this amp but I think its fine till I have a job) have the gain up at 8. Bass-8 mid-7 treble-9. And I sometimes use my boss ds-2 along with that.
Im thinking of getting a Big Muff...probably try one out at merchant city sometime.
