was there an outside force affecting any of the songwriting? I know this is irrelevant to hideous records as it was before it existed, but, it seems vaguely relevant somehow.....
anyway yeah, I'm just curious
cheers

no. none whatsoever, aside from the lyrics being based on situations the band were in at the time.

in that case definitely not - the band aren't big enough / the deal wasn't significant enough for record label types to interfere with song writing!

I'm not disagreein with you but some very small bands I know, like people from my school got a deal and dropped out because they were proper controllin so I don't think the band's always gotta be big.....

and that makes me happy, vfvd is definitely my least favourite album but it's still an awesome album, with some tracks better than other bands ever come out with

massive change in sound tho, I had little whispers sayin in my head that they might have had some deal with smallprint sayin certain stuff about songwritin, and I thought maybe that's why they created hideous records before inwt

anyways, cheers for the clearup!
x

EDIT: just re-read your post and saw the '/' which means my first sentence is irrelevant sorry lol

i just had a thought, if the label were having an influence on the song writing then the first thing they'd do is tell them not to put Return Of The Jedi on the record.

my fave song n all

after listening to that album about 10 times more, I actually really dig it, and different songs keep lighting up and bein sweet, so yeah, the question I initially asked in this thread I wouldn't ask again now, especially after watching the dvd , knowing more about the band and just knowing that album better
