I agree with all of this.
Though, i think the piano sound is weak, if they had a much bolder sound it could have worked alot better. _________________ Feedbacker.

it is a perfect album to me, wth the exception of A short history of nearly everything. I can't get into it. I've listened to the album at least twenty five times but that song is just not happening for me.
Favourite tracks are an act of kindness, suffocation of the soul and agony, probably. And good luck is so beautiful. It all owns. _________________ This is not real I am not here This is not me

I disagree, the piano sound is awesome, it really rounds off the sound and is far from weak. The low bass piano part on the second verse sounded amazing in my opinion, and only gets better from there. |

defo crushed under the weight, im actualy a bit gutted about agony/agatha as well, mainly because of my dislike of songs about writing songs and coz it could have been amazing if the lyrics were better.
But the album was defo worth the wait it has some amazing songs on it _________________ www.myspace.com/dannymoves

The Who's "Getting In Tune", EASILY the worst song on the otherwise excellent 'Who's Next' album...though actually I think they pull it off with Agony/Agatha, like the footie chant in Ambulance - could'a been rubbish, but it wasn't. |

I find 'Cities..' hard to listen to, maybe because it starts so slowly.
But then again guys:
"Please give me a record, that I love straight away.
That I don't have to grow into, after constant play."
Or whatever the lyrics were.. |

yeah, to echo most peoples thoughts, 'Crushed Under the enormous...' is the weakest song on the album. Shame cos it has a really cool riff and the lyrics are ace. _________________ www.myspace.com/ukautopilots |

I feel that 'Cities On Fire' is the poorest song on the album.
It's grown on me more after more plays, but it's still my least favourite.
It seems like the most 'album-filler' type of track on there, and just there to attempt to open the album in a epic way.
But don't get me wrong, I still like it. _________________

I agree with you there haunted devil, i don't get much enjoyment out of Cities on Fire. It feels really out of place and unfinished. _________________ Feedbacker.

until a few nights ago I would have said A Short History was the weakest for me.
Now it's probably actually the best. I LOVE IT. _________________ <@Jonnor> are you actually taking the michael?

just realised i havn't weighed in yet...
Personally I'm not a fan of Crushed... simply because the tune is really monotone in places and that turns me off
Cities on Fire isn't a massive favourite of mine (nothing will top Good Luck) but I do really like it. Rather than trying to be an epic intro, that track to me is about wiping the slate clean, starting afresh with Hideous and moving into something new and more scary. It's an introduction, and the last moments before leaping into the unknown - it ends suddenly because that is the jump, and as such I think how it ends and where it is position is really necessary and workes well because of it
of course I'm probably reading too much into that and in reality the guys probably just thought it was a bitchin' way to start the album. Whichever you prefer _________________ The Sandy Mill Assault - Wednesdays 9pm 'til 11pm

Yeah COF owns. I still haven't really gotten into Crushed. I think it's my least favourite Reuben song, generally. I just can't think of anything good about it (except maybe that insanely crunchy guitar that comes in right at the end) Lyrics do nothing for me at all, the riff is a bit meh, melody virtually non-existent, structure; well... verse, chrous, verse, chorus...
I think the whole album would be alot better if it just wasn't on there. Then again, if I ever see it live I'll probably go ape and love it. |
