Seems a very strange review. Ska? Dance?? Ah well, at least it's positive.

It just proves that planet sound actually know fuck all about music, Reuben are about as far from ska as you can get. Music reviewers who really don't know much about music (yes that means the entire NME team too) piss me off!

At least it wasn't a bad review, but I doubt it's likely to really get them any new fans.

People will listen to them expecting Less Than Jake or something and thinking 'what the fuck?' Laughing

On the strength of that, they might not have been listening to the band beforehand but at least they're definitely listening now!

What could have confused them, that's what I'm wondering. I detect zero brass on any of their albums. Maybe it's all the funky basslines, I dunno...Horrorshow? Best Enemies? Parties Break Hearts? Beats me. It's an enigma wrapped in a riddle wrapped in a yadda yadda yadda.

That's all it could be, but then funkiness is still far apart from ska. It's like saying RATM is ska cause the bass is a bit funky.

Obviously there's no other vaguely rational explanation. I agree refering to them as ska based on a few basslines is absurd, but how else can you confuse them?
Other than not really paying any kind of attention to what they really sound like, obviously... Cool

On the Kerrang review it mentions Jamie has a new job in London, not that far from me (recently having a new job in London also) I find this very cool, and also very strange that no one seemed to have mentioned this!

I hope maybe I will bump into him on my way home, that would be so very very cool. We could hum together at the station Very Happy

Also i'm not in the least bit surprised at all the fantastic reviews INWT has been getting. This album is surely going to blow up the Reuben train....so to speak...

i'm well annoyed, i won a bid for a promotional copy of the album on wednesday and it still hasn't arrived! What a moronic ebay seller, i'm going to give him such a bad rating!

On the topic of jamie's job, i think few people have discussed it as it's only in kerrang which was out this week and not many people read kerrang.

New Noise give it a rather excellent review, calling it a bloody good album, but apparently it's not quite as good as Racecar or VFVD... because it's more varied...!!! huh?

I've still resisted downloading. Can't wait for monday Very Happy

Top work on getting those Rich, you're a star! I'm amazed at how positive it all is. If anyone has any more, keep 'em coming!

I was pleasantly surprised that 'A short history of nearly everything' was actually named after the book...

At least, I think that's cool.

Nobody else read bryson? You should.

As far as reception for the new album goes, it's all seeming bloody great, after being honestly very dissappointed with Biffy's new album, I have a feeling this is in fact THE album I've been looking for.

"Imagine Chas & Dave falling down the stairs after too much absinthe."

Thats got to be added to reuben's bio Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

"This album is the equivalent of a glancing blow to the balls. The effect isn't instant but it's fucking remembered long after the event has ended."

That second reviewer really really likes the album to be fair!

I liked his weezer reference too.

Drowned in sound should get a review copy, they're usually nice to reuben. Especially with their thorough live reviews.
