there's a new album and all that coming out soonish, and all this talk about it has made me think. we should go back a few years, and take a moment to remember the truley awsome piece of work that was known as 'Pilot'.
this cd was what started it off for many of the reuben fans out there, and has some of their best work theyve ever done.
without that EP, Reuben wouldnt be where they are now.
all hail 'Pilot'. _________________ Tiny little ducklings wearing paper hats. Standing outside the worlds tallest block of flats. |

Seconded!
Never get bored of listening to Pilot, and no matter how many blindingly good tracks Reuben releases, I'll always love those four (or five). _________________ It's not the winning that counts, it's the arsing about |

I just listened to it again- great stuff. Although on reflection, Mark, the drummer at the time, didn't quite bash the pans with enough urgency. But it's the quality of the songwriting that really stands out after so long- everything is just really well thought out. _________________ "This bed is called the whore, because everyone has slept on it, and now so will you."

Pilot remains to be my favourite Reuben record ever. It's just so damn funky. _________________

Nah, he does a good job, really, especially on Crimson. It might be the production, but the drums just aren't powerful enough; they don't have enough oomph. That isn't a criticism of the EP though, it's a just minor niggle of mine. _________________ "This bed is called the whore, because everyone has slept on it, and now so will you."

yeah i think thats more to do with the production than Mark.
Regardless of the not great production, its still an awesome EP just because of the quality of song writing as you said. Its ace. _________________ Try to keep your composure, I'm only having a laugh.

the production thing is basically down to running out of money to pay for more studio time to mix it... so essentially some of pilot isn't "final" mixes.. |

I think the kind of rawer production on the songs is what gives it a bit of extra charm. _________________ Stay Puffed |

Yeah I think the production is fine, probably even makes it sound better. _________________ Neither of which Jamie had ever played before the sessions. ‘I’d never played them before,’ he says. |
