Well I met Reuben at a gig in Pompey a while back (Soulwax if anyone's interested) and they said the new album would be a lot more experimental (even a little like Soulwax they said Shocked )

What are/were you expecting?

Riffs, rock, ruff and tumble. Excitement and lots of inspiration.

No, I've never seen them, which is very upsetting. I adore them.

i think the new record will have a similar vibe but with some new tricks scattered along the trail ... the same way biffy progress but still holding onto what the previous material had at the same time. (sort of)

i think itll have a more straight forward rock sound to it. less complicated structures and time changes i think. Thats what i think the new material was like anyways.

I'm a massive Soulwax fan! Great to hear Reuben are too!

However, compared to the first 2, the third (and latest) Soulwax album was really quite quite poor. I hope it's not too much like it.

Based on what I've heard, the new album will be very hard edged, the individual songs will be more reptitive within themselves (no meandering songs like Dusk). And there'll be less melodies - more screaming and shouting...

Agreed on the Soulwax front, MAEA was by far their best imho.

I'm expecting a more consistent work. RIRB was a great debut but it still felt like Reuben had everything to prove, so they stuck 16 songs on there and sometimes the album has a lack of power (No one wins the war isn't nearly as agressive as it is live).
The production should add more power to the record- Chris gave TCATS a force and catchiness that really worked well, it was unique. However the songwriting seems to be expanding in different directions too- still heavy and complex (Blamethrower, Alpha Signal 3), but also with a pop edge (It's all about control) and some more mellow songs, like Nobody Loves You (so I've heard).
I'm just hoping it lives up to it's name! Cool

For some reason, I read that as being some kind of abbreviation for 'Thundercats'...
