Yesterday's news post says they're doing live records in the studio... is this just for the so-called pre-recording sessions, or are they doing the whole thing like that? Shocked

sounds like they must be throwing down the guitar, drums and bass live then overdubing the vocals...looks like theyre gonna do this as fast as possible

but remember the 2nd biffy album was supposedly recorded in a day and nirvanas bleach was just about totally live, so its not too uncommon

I believe "Milk it" by Nirvana was recorded like that. I've also been told that the first Mclusky album is just one long take, but I'm not sure how true that is.

metallica's "st anger" aswell. reuben are good enough to play it live. it's only if the band members make odd mistakes that they have to dub them on seperately. and, well you know them three ! #
plus, it's going to get the "rougher" edge they're leaning towards, especially with gaining friends like Million Dead and Hundred Reasons, rather than the slower Septembre genre . . . .

st.anger wasnt live was it ? thats not how it looks in the movie ... lots of first and second takes made it onto the album - then they got looped through pro-tools to make the songs longer.
thats how i remember them talking about it when it came out.

The Mclusky one is true according to the band (there crazy enough to do it) but those mclusky boys arent the most reliable men so i dont think well ever know for certain.

It had no oomph. In general the production annoyed me. In general, Jason annoys me...

i agree. the drum sounds was quite weak. for a song like no one wins the war you need HUGE drums, and the snare had no punch.
