i'm personally not against the multi format thing, i do think it's beeter for the fans (and the commercial success of the band) but not at the expense of the fans.

the people who sign the cheques knoiw that there are a section of fans who will buy anythiong that the band release, whether they have the tracks or not, and thius ultimately helps bolster the chart position of singles that are released by having multiple purchases by the same individuals.

i dont buy vinyls for numerous reasons including not having a turntable and poorer sound quality (i'm not buying into the 'vinyl has character' bullshit)

kick in the mouth just missed out on top 40 entry, which is of major interest to the people in power no matter how much any recording artist feels that singles are just a necessary evil.

it's just about selling more to the people they know will buy it, but offering less product. Sad

Its obviously a marketing thing, but the vinyls are only like 99p so i'm not complaining. Like the idea of the limited vinyl.

i presume the 2 track cd thing is some kind of chart rule.

probably something along the lines of 2 track cds must be no more than 1.99 whereas 3 track cds can be more.

i'm only guessing but the chart people do come up with the most idiotic (and major label friendly) rules...

yeah there are a few stupid rules like a single can't chart if there's a free gift with it. and singles can only have three tracks on them now can't they?

Which makes it hilarious when bands have three hidden tracks on them, putting the titles on their website.
